The GA Wellness Podcast is the go-to space for women who are juggling a full life and craving real, sustainable wellness that actually fits into the chaos, not on top of it.
Hosted by Georgia Ann, wellness coach, former group fitness instructor and creator of the HNSF Method. This warm, down-to-earth show is for the woman who can lead a meeting, soothe a meltdown and throw dinner together in 20 minutes, but hasn’t had five quiet minutes to herself all day. We lovingly call that woman a Busy Bella and if that sounds familiar, this podcast was made with her in mind.
Each week, Georgia brings heartfelt stories, gentle guidance and science-backed strategies grounded in the four pillars of the GA Wellness philosophy: Hydration, Nutrition, Self-care and Fitness. These episodes go beyond quick fixes and offer tools to help women regulate their nervous systems, rebuild their energy and reconnect with their bodies.
There’s no hustle culture here, just real talk, relatable support and small shifts that lead to lasting change. With journal prompts, mini challenges, advice from experts and encouragement from a growing community, listeners are invited to move step by step from Busy Bella to Balanced Bella.
Whether tuning in on a lunch break, commuting to work, during school pickup, during soccer practice or in the quiet moments before bed, women will feel seen, supported and reminded that they are not alone and they are not behind.
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what
truly supports you in the season you are in.

📋 What we covered:
• What it looks like when moving on becomes the only decision left
• Why recognising a mismatch does not mean you failed
• What owning your architecture in business really means
• The leased land lesson and what happens when someone else controls the platform your work sits on
• Why even a one-word approval for the 301 redirect never happened
• How anticipating the pattern can stop the situation from completely throwing you
• What it looked like to manually hold everything together behind the scenes
• Why your stress levels started dropping once the decision was made
• How your energy changes once it stops being absorbed by something that is not working
• What shifted once Survival Season finally lifted
• Why the standards you developed in one working relationship shaped the next one

E034 Boundaries in Business: When Nothing Changes After You Speak Up, What Comes Next?
Georgia Ann
Opening
Have you ever been in a situation where you're the one being held accountable, but you don't control the outcome because someone else isn't following through? You've been clear, you set the boundary and you're still the one holding it together, stepping in and making sure it doesn't fall apart. If this keeps going, it doesn't stay contained to that one situation, it starts taking your time, your focus and your energy. In this episode, I'm walking you through what that does to your nervous system, why your energy gets pulled into it and the decision you need to make to take your control back.
Podcast Intro
Welcome to the GA Wellness Podcast. Small Steps, Lasting Change. I'm your host, Georgia Ann, health coach, solo mum and a woman who's lived through the chaos, the curveballs and the craving for something steadier. After 20 years in the fitness industry and my own journey through grief, motherhood and starting over, I've learnt that real wellness isn't about doing more, it's about doing what matters. Each week we cut through the noise and get real with simple, doable tools to help you feel stronger, calmer and more like you. This isn't about perfection, it's about steady soul led progress. Because you deserve wellness that fits into your full life, not just one version of it. Let's dive in.
Welcome Back
Hey, lovely, welcome back to the GA Wellness Podcast. I created this podcast to feel like you're sitting down for a coffee with someone who just gets what's going on in your life. The ups and downs, the juggle of everything and trying to keep it all together and those moments where you're like, no, yeah, this just isn't working anymore. We talk about why your body reacts the way it does in those moments, why it can feel so hard to say what you need and what happens when people keep pushing past your boundaries so you can recognise it for what it is, trust what you're feeling and decide what to do next.
The Road So Far
This is our concluding chapter of our Boundaries in Business arc and seriously, what a ride this has been. Okay, so the road so far, this arc has been building from the first moment where you get the heebie jeebies through to the point where you take action and take control. This can happen anywhere, managing a project, leading a team, running a business, stepping into a new role, or navigating a change in leadership. In episode 32, I talk about that first step, when something doesn't feel right, but you don't fully get what it is yet and that's your awareness kicking in. You're still showing up, you're trying to make sense of what's happening, hoping it will change on its own and you realise your needs just aren't being met. At the same time, you're carrying the responsibility of the business, the team, the client or the project.
Two Outcomes.
In episode 33, we move to the point where you speak up, you're clear, you're direct, you're respectful and two outcomes present themselves. Your boundaries are honoured and a stronger partnership forms or your boundaries aren't honoured and this episode is going to follow that second path, because I want to give you the tools you can use when things just don't work out the way that you expected. Not everything is a Disney movie and you don't always get your happy ending straight away. I care about showing you both sides, the situations where things move forward and the ones where they don't. Understanding both is what helps you recognise what's happening in your own situation.
So in today's episode, I'll walk you through what happened when I realised my boundaries weren't being respected and the decision I made to move forward in a way that respected me both personally and professionally.
Picking Up Where We Left Off
So let's pick this up right from where we left off from last week's episode. So after what I experienced, the next logical step for me was to move on. I made the decision and I had to come to terms with knowing I had done everything I could. We were just mismatched. We were operating completely different ways. I was operating as a business owner and they were operating more like a hobbyist and that, on its own, was enough for me to recognise that the healthiest thing for me to do was leave. There had been nothing to show me that they were going to meet me halfway or even approach the boundaries I put in place. The pattern had been consistent the whole way through.
Owning Your Architecture
I had to sit with this for a bit because I knew that what I was about to do next was huge. This was going to be more than just a editor change. I was going to change everything. The platform, the backend, the entire structure of how the podcast was run. I didn't mention this in the previous episodes, but I was actually tied to one single podcasting platform because of the agreement that was in place. What this meant, means is my podcast was, let's say, leased somewhere else where I had no control over it. This is a lesson I learned the hard way and I want to be really clear about this. You need to own your architecture.
Leased Land
When you don't and it belongs to someone else, you're under their control, they decide what happens, if it happens, when it happens and how it happens and if they don't follow through or they don't prioritise what you need, you get stuck. You can't progress the way you want to because everything has to go through them. Now, if you've been around business for a while, you have heard that this kind of happens with social media as well. So with Facebook and Instagram, they are on what's called leased land. You don't own them. If something changes with the algorithm, you have to adapt because you don't control the platform and this was the same concept, just in a different space and this does make sense from a nervous system perspective.
Why I Had to Leave
When you don't have control over the thing you're responsible for, your system stays switched on. You're then constantly thinking about it, checking it and trying to manage something that isn't fully in your hands and that's exactly where I was and why I had to leave. So you're probably thinking, that's great, Georgia, you finally got out of it and became free. Nope. The next phase was just about to start and I mean, I find this quite ironic because even my exit and offboarding wasn't handled properly. As I just mentioned, they controlled my podcast and the platform because of the agreement that was in place. This meant that only they could ask for my podcast to be released to the new platform I wanted to join.
The 301 Redirect
This is called a 301 redirect. On paper, it was so straightforward. I literally gave them everything they needed, all in an email. I also mentioned that all they had to do was respond back to me with the words ‘approved’ and I'll handle everything else from my end. Even that didn't happen. Was I surprised? Not really, because if you followed this arc, the pattern had been there the whole time. The difference was this time I anticipated it and worked around it because I knew something like this was going to happen. So what happened to me now is I became surprisingly calm because I took control of what I could. I set everything up from my end. I navigated the platforms meticulously, went through and manually updated everything because I knew a blanket change like a 301 redirect probably wasn't going to happen.
Making Sure the Podcast Stayed Online
I made sure everything was ready so the transition could happen as smoothly as possible and I'm really proud of this. I personally made sure the podcast never went offline because I made a commitment to you. I was going to show up weekly so you could have the support you need from me and this podcast. When you share an episode to a friend, they would always receive the episode in the right format and platform so then they can get the support that they need. This happened because I knew that if I didn't take ownership of that process, it just wasn't going to happen the way I needed it to. From the outside, everything probably looked quite fine. Even my mum was gobsmacked when I mentioned all the stitching up I was doing behind the scenes because my front end looked no different. The trade off was internally. I was still in survival season. I was managing the whole process, problem solving and holding everything together.
The Moment I Felt Free
The moment I saw everything had successfully migrated over and all the risks had been mitigated, I felt elated. I could tell I was going to finally shift out of survival season and I was free. What was going through my brain at that stage was actually completely different feeling. Prior to this and especially in the previous two episodes, I unpack what it feels like when you don't have clarity. That paralysis stage when you're in it, but you can't break out of it. It's not fun, it's confusing and your body shows you that as well. You're stuck in that go mode, hoping it's going to change, but you just don't know how.
When You Take a Stand
What I'm going to share here is that nothing had actually changed, but I did and when you take a stand, that's what happens. It doesn't always change the situation, but it changes you and that's where the shift is at this stage. You're not confused anymore. You've created your boundaries, you've communicated clearly and you followed through. The pattern hasn't stopped and your brain recognises that. It starts to anticipate what's going to happen based on previous behaviour and because of that, your stress levels don't increase. You're not sitting there waiting for something different to happen anymore. You've already made the decision and your nervous system responds differently. At the end of the day, your nervous system responds to what is being fed. When things feel uncertain, it stays switched on. When there's clarity, it relaxes. For me, this showed up once I had my exit strategy in place because it was something I could control.
Clarity
I wasn't relying on that situation to resolve any more on its own and I wasn't waiting on someone else to meet me halfway. That's why I felt calm and my parasympathetic nervous system took over. I just felt a lot clearer and a lot more relaxed in my situation and in my decisions moving forward. Even when that final step didn't happen, which was the 301 redirect, I wasn't thrown by it. If anything, I had a bit of a chuckle because it was exactly what I had experienced the whole time. The behaviour just didn't surprise me anymore. It confirmed what I already knew and from a human perspective, this makes a lot of sense. We're wired to look for consistency in the people we work with. We need to know that what is being said is going to be followed through.
A New Editor
When that's there, things feel easy, you move on and your energy goes where it needs to go. When it's not, your system reacts. But once you've seen that pattern clearly and you know it's not going to change, you stop giving your energy, trying to fix it and you start redirecting it to what you can control. Now, on the flip side of this, since the beginning of the year, I've been working with a completely different editor and they're probably going to smile when they hear this because they're obviously editing this episode as well. But honestly, it's been a breath of fresh air. It's been like a complete yin and yang shift. I feel lighter, I feel freer and everything just feels easy. I didn't even know it could feel this easy.
Clear Expectations
One of the biggest lessons for me is that the work I did last year is what made this possible. Getting really clear on my expectations. Expectations is what changed this. When I first started the podcast, I didn't have that clarity. I didn't know what I needed or what a good podcast look like. That's why I chose a ‘done for you’ service. But going through the experience gave me that clarity. So when I stepped into this new relationship, I was able to communicate properly. I knew what I needed, what my standards were and what mattered to me and we are now in a collaborative relationship. Everything sits in one place. We use Asana, it's transparent and we both know what's happening. There's no chasing or guessing. Things get done and we move on. It's just easy.
Energy
This brings me to one of the core themes in this arc and that's energy. Now, I don't believe energy is something that you need to go and get or something that's handed to you. It's something that's already within your control. It comes down to how you're using it and where you're directing it. Across this arc, I've spoken about how my energy was drained. I was stuck in survival season. But I wasn't really stuck. I just didn't have the tool in place initially to redirect my energy and that for me was my boundaries. The consequence was that my energy was being absorbed into a place that wasn't supporting me. I was operating in a highly operational space, constantly managing and fixing and this isn't what I wanted or where I wanted to be as a business owner.
Getting My Energy Back
Once I made the decision, that was the first phase of getting my energy back and with energy comes clarity. You see things for what they are because you're not sitting in that fog anymore. You're not constantly trying to work something out. You can see what's in front of you and make decisions from that place and this is where your life seasons start to change. When your energy is tied up in survival, everything feels harder, reactive and constant. When you redirect that energy, you move into a different season. That might be transition, where you're figuring out your next step. It might be growth, where you're building and creating again, or it might be rest, where your system needs space before it can move forward. This is where something like energy transference comes in.
Energy Transference
Your energy doesn't disappear. Like I mentioned, it moves and changes because it's being redirected. So when you stop pulling it into something that isn't working frees up to support you somewhere else and that's exactly what happened for me. Once I had my boundaries in place and once I made the decision to move and I moved into a space where I felt supported, my energy changed. I am now completely in growth season. I can create again. I can build again. I can focus on the part of the business that moves things forward because I trust the people I'm working with and the relationship we've built. If you remember from last week's episode, we spoke about how trust is something we rely on as humans. It's what allows us to move forward without constantly checking and that's exactly what changed here and this is why understanding your season matters.
Season Mapping Quiz
You can see where your energy is sitting and you can respond in a way that supports you instead of staying stuck in something that just isn't working and it's exactly why I support you through the season mapping quiz. It helps you step back, look at where your energy is going right now and understand which season your nervous system is. So then you can take the next step with clarity. I'll also give you a few tools you can use straight away. The details are in the show notes and if you have any questions about what it is or how it can help you. You can send me an email at georgia@gawellness.com.au. The interesting thing is once you look at your energy like this and how it's been affected by external relationships, you notice it also seeps into other parts of life.
The Ripple Effect
For me, my energy didn't just stay in the business. It's freed me up to spend more time with Ellie and I've got more time to spend with family because I'm present with them and I'm present with what I do with them. I don't have all that excess baggage hanging around me anymore and even my sleep has improved. If you've listened to the Rest & Repair arc, you'll know how big sleep is and how much it really matters. I go into it into detail from that arc. I recommend definitely going back and having a bit of a listen. So when your energy is tied up in something that isn't working, it doesn't stay contained in that one area. It does flow everywhere else. Your time, your relationships, your sleep and the way you show up. The same can be said when you do something to change it. It's the same ripple effect, but this time in a much more positive light.
Full Circle Summary
Alright, lovely. Before we finish today, I want to take a moment and zoom out and look at what we've explored together over this whole Boundaries in Business arc. We started this conversation back in episode 32 where we looked at that first moment where something feels off. You get the heebie jeebies. You can't quite explain it or why you've got them, but you know that something isn’t lining up and I call this the awareness stage. Then in episode 33, we moved into what happens when you speak up. You get clear, you communicate what you need and you follow it through from there. Two things happen. Your boundaries are honoured and things move forward or they're not.
The Boundaries in Business Arc
That's where this episode came in today. We followed that second path. What happens when nothing changes, even after you've done your part. We walked through what that looks like, what it does to your nervous system and how it starts to pull your time, focus and energy into something that isn't working. We also looked at what happens when you make a decision based on previous and current patterns and that allows you to take control of what you can and move forward in a way that supports you. Then we brought that back into seasons. Survival season, where you're managing and holding things together, transition season, where you're making changes and working out your next step, growth season, where you're building and creating again and rest season, where your system has space to recover before moving forward.
Where We’re Heading Next
When you look at your situation through this lens, it starts to make more sense. You can see where your energy is going and that's what helps you decide what needs to change and the Season Mapping Quiz is there to help you make your first decision and your first steps to support your energy. As we wrap up this arc, I just want to say thank you for being part of this conversation with me. Boundaries can feel uncomfortable, they can be tested and sometimes they don't give you the outcome you were hoping for, but they do give you clarity and that clarity is what helps you make decisions that support you both personally and professionally and speaking of what comes next, we're stepping to a brand new arc, Presence and Perception. We're going to look at how you show up in real life environments.
Like work, social settings, family, dating, the gym, the spaces where you're interacting with people and forming impressions. We'll also look at how your nervous system shapes the way you present yourself and how that influences how other people experience you. So if you've ever walked into a room and wondered how you've come across or held back because you weren't sure how you're being perceived, this next arc is going to be right up your alley. Until next week, take care of yourself. Notice where your energy is going and as always, I am so glad you're here.
